The main importance of iron lies in its presence in haemoglobin. It binds oxygen to itself. Red blood cells then carry it to the cells of the body. It ensures the normal function of the thyroid gland, brain and immune system. Manifestations of deficiency include body weakness, hair loss, brittle nails, weakened bones, weight gain, inflammation, swallowing disorders, fatigue, dizziness and shortness of breath. In combination with vitamin C, it has a significant effect on improving anemia and proper red blood cell function.
